Dealing with reality through creativity

My work is a way of dealing with life. A way to investigate and, above all, understand life and people. The stories I tell include topics that are sometimes difficult to talk about. Themes such as death, (sexual) violence, honour revenge and mourning. Even though these topics aren’t easy and sometimes painful to dive into, they have one common theme: resilience. 

With my work I want to show the beauty of vulnerability. The emotion that can make people laugh and cry at the same time.  

Interdisciplinairy

I have an interdisciplinary approach to filmmaking: it’s the only way I can think, and the only way I can work. During the process, I use a lot of ingredients to tell the story. Such as: image, sound, stories, research, music, technology, object, artefacts.

Teamwork

In the process of making these stories I am never alone. The crew that is being formed for every project, is the other ingredient. That’s where the magic happens: when you bring people together. Their voices, encounters and the conversations we have during the process are key.
